USER MAUAL1. Unboxing Fuze Card

Here is a Fuze Card unboxing.
Fuze Card comes with the card itself, a user manual, an eCharger, a card reader, and micro usb cable.

We’ll look at what’s in the box

FUZE CARD
The pin connector located on the left of the card is a port for charging.
Fuze Card’s display is located on the bottom right-hand corner with 3 buttons underneath.
We’ll describe the buttons in detail on future chapters.

USER MANUAL
The user manual is located beneath the card.
The Front side includes information regarding specification of the card and various accessories.
The back side includes information regarding the use of the card.

ECHARGER & CARD READER
The card reader and eCharger is located underneath the user manual.

eCharger has a built-in battery which allows you to charge on-the-go.

Insert the card via an opening on the right side of the charger,
and press the button on the charger to start charging.

The LED on the charger will be red while charging, and green when the charging is complete.
A Fully charged eCharger can regenerate the Fuze card 3~5 times.
It takes around 90 mins to fully charge the eCharger and it approximately
30 mins to fully charge the FuzeCard.

Card reader is used to add payment cards or magnetic membership cards
to the FuzeCard via our smartphone app.

4. MICRO USB CHARGING CABLE
You’ll be faced with a paper divider once you take out the eCharger and card reader.
Using the hold in the middle, lift the paper divider to find a micro USB cable.
This micro USB cable is used for charging the eCharger.

Make sure you have all the items laid out in this guide before beginning the set-up process.
We highly recommend charging your card before beginning the set-up process.
We’ll go through detailed set-up process in our next chapter of the guide
2. Bluetooth set-up

You can manage your payment cards or membership cards through our
smartphone app ‘eCard Manager’.
In this chapter, we’ll show you how to set up a Fuze Card with the ‘eCard Manager’ app.
We highly recommend fully charging the card before beginning the set-up.
DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE SMARTPHONE APP
Download the ‘eCard Manager’ app on your smartphone via Google Playstore or Apple app store.

SYSTEM SETTING
eCard manager communicates with Fuze Card via encrypted Bluetooth.
To add or manage cards on Fuzecard, Bluetooth needs to be turned on.
Please go to settings > Bluetooth on your phone to turn the Bluetooth on.

The app will request the following permission once you install them.
- Location (for card location tracking and theft prevention), Notification
(to notify you when the card is lost),
- Record video/ Media files (to add barcode cards to Fuze Card), Record audio
(to add magnetic card to Fuze Card)
Please allow all the permissions to fully utilize all features of the Fuze Card.

MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION
Once you launch the eCard Manager app, you will be faced with a login page.

Press the SIGN UP button to begin your Fuze card membership.

Once you fill out all necessary space, a SIGN UP button will be activated.
Press the sign up button to continue.

Once you press the sign up button, a verification email will be sent to the email that you have registered with.
Please check your inbox to find the email and press the
‘VERIFY ACCOUNT’ button to activate the account.

*Verification email is only valid for 72 hours from the time of your registration.
*Depending on the server condition, the verification mail might be sent with a little delay.
*Please check your spam inbox to make sure that the verification
email was not sent to spam.

After completing the verification, please return to the app and press the
‘VERIFICATION SUCCEEDED’ button to continue.
The app will go into a Bluetooth connection stage.
BLUETOOTH PAIRING
The app will take you to Bluetooth pairing page once you are done with membership registration.

Follow the instructions on the app to turn the Fuze Card on and press the ‘NEXT’ button.

Serial number page

Press ‘NEXT’ button after entering a serial number that appears on your Fuze Card.

The App will search for Fuzecard.
After finding the card, the app will ask for a pin number to complete pairing process.

You will find the pin number being displayed on your Fuze Card e-paper display.
Enter the pin number into the app.

If you have entered the correct pin number, the pairing will proceed and
the app will move on to the next step.
If you fail to pair, please go to Bluetooth settings on your phone and unpair the Fuze Card,
And try to pair the card again.

*Press the icon marked with red circle to unpair the Fuze Card.
Fuze Card won’t be shown on searchable device if it is already paired with a device.

If you want to pair your Fuze Card with a new device,
please make sure that Fuze Card is properly unpaired from your
original device by checking your Bluetooth settings.

FIRMWARE UPDATE
Firmware update may be needed in its initial set-up process.
This will usually take a few minutes to complete.
If you see a pop-up message asking for a firmware update like this,

Please make sure that your Fuze Card is in the eCharger and that
the LED on the eCharger is glowing in red (shows that card is being charged)
And press ‘OK’ to proceed with the firmware update.

Once the update is complete, press ‘OK’ to continue.


SETTING UP A PASSCODE
The last leg of the initial set-up process is creating you own passcode.
Please follow the instruction on the screen to create a 6 digit passcode
using 3 buttons on your Fuze Card.


You can skip the passcode set up but we highly recommend setting
one up to ensure the security of your device.
Please refer to the following link for detailed passcode/security policy.
HOME SCREEN
You will be lead to a home screen when the initial set up is completed.

The menu where you can edit your preference, profile, security setting
is located on the top left corner of the screen.
Location History menu is located on the top right-hand corner of the screen.
You will be able to check your
location tracking information when your security settings is on level 2 or above.
(We’ll discuss more on security levels on our next post)

3. Adding card data
You can add cards by pressing the ‘+’ button in each of the payment/membership card section.
PAYMENT CARD REGISTRATION
From the home screen press ‘PAYMENT CARD’ section.

Press the ‘+’ button from the card list screen.

When you see the screen below, plug in your card reader into the headphone jack of the phone.

*If your phone does not have a headphone jack, use a headphone jack dongle.

Make sure the card reader is completely inserted into the headphone jack
and that the flat side of the reader is facing up, while the thick side of it is facing down.

1) Make sure that the magnetic strip is facing the thick(header) side of the reader
and swipe the card from one end to the other end.

TIP: The card information is written on the magnetic strip from right to left.
(When you are facing the back of the card).

Therefore, if you do not swipe the card from end to the other end,
the card reader cannot properly read your card information.

Also, if you swipe the card the wrong way or swipe the side of the card without the magnetic strip,
the card reader cannot read your information properly.
We recommend that you swipe the card quickly.
The progress bar advances with each swipe that properly registers.
Once the progress bar reaches 100%, the ‘NEXT’ button will be activated.
Proceed to the next step by pressing this button where you will be instructed to enter a CVC number
and the expiration date for your card.

If you are not sure about CVC or 4DBC press the button for more information.

(CVC is security code printed on the back of your credit card and 4DBC is security code
for AMEX cards printed in the front of the card)
Once all the card information is entered press the ‘COMPLETE’ button to
complete your card registration.
You will be able to see that the newly added card is shown on both
Ecard Manager App and the Fuze Card.
MEMBERSHIP CARD REGISTRATION
On the home screen press the ‘Membership Card’ section.

Begin the registration process by pressing the ‘+’ button.

Choose from 3 methods of membership card registration.
There are 3 ways to adding a membership card:
Mag-stripe, Barcode, and Manual Input.
Please use the method that the membership card is used at the store.
MAG-STRIP METHOD
Choose Mag-stripe method by selecting mag-stripe icon on the following pop-up message screen.

Once the following screen is shown after pressing the ‘Mag-stripe’ button,

Make sure you plug in the card reader to a headphone jack (dongle) properly.

Card’s magnetic strip should be facing the thick side of the reader.

*Cards need to be swiped end to end for proper reading.
Once the card is registered properly, you will see the ‘NEXT’ button being activated.
Press the ‘NEXT’ button to proceed.

Enter a designated name for the card and press the “COMPLETE’ button to finish the process.

TIP: If the membership card follows JIS2 standard,
the magnetic strip is located in the front of the card.

If you want to add JIS2 standard membership card, make sure the magnetic strip
strip is facing the thick side of the reader and swipe the card one end to the other end.

BARCODE METHOD
Press the ‘barcode’ icon from the following pop-up message.

The camera on your phone will be turned on.
The camera on your phone will be turned on.
Use the camera app to scan the barcode on your membership card.

If the camera recognizes the barcode, it will automatically proceed to the next step.

Enter a designated name for the card and press the ‘COMPLETE’ button to finish registration.
MANUAL INPUT METHOD
If you have any issues with mag-strip or barcode input method,
you could try manual input method to register your membership card.
Please select the ‘Manual input’ button on the pop-up message.

On the next screen you will be able to enter a membership card number and name your membership card.

Press the ‘COMPLETE’ button to finish the registration.

4. Security policy
There are several features on Fuze Card that enhances the security of your device.
1) Security level setting
2) Data blind, Passcode
3) Lock & Remote Data Wipe
We will first look at how to set up the Fuze Card security level.
1. SECURITY LEVEL
Open the drop down menu located on the top left-hand corner of your home screen.


Press an icon that matches your desired security level (level 1,2,3) to set the security level of the card.
The level we recommend is level 3.

Security level 1 allows you to use the card whether or not your card is connected to your phone.
It’s the most convenient but least secure mode.

Security level 2 only allows you to make payments when the card is
connected to your phone via Bluetooth (Secure Payment).
However, you can unlock & use the card without a phone if you have passcode set up.
This level also activates location tracking history.

Security level 3 also enables Secure Payment features, where you can only make payment
when the card is connected to your phone.
It also activates a Separation alert feature.
Your app will notify you whenever the Fuze card is separated from you (your phone).
This mode will be enabled/updated in near future.
2.DATA BLIND
This feature covers up card numbers displayed on e-paper of Fuze Card with Astricks.
The feature is active if the icon on the app is in red.

When the data blind feature is activated, partial number of credit cards are covered as shown below.

This feature is enabled when the card is manufactured and you can choose to either to leave it on or turn it off.
3. PASSCODE
This feature protects cards from unauthorized uses.
You can activate this feature by pressing the ‘PASSCODE’ icon in the security settings menu.

Once activated, you will need to enter your passcode whenever you wake your Fuze Card up.


Please note that an authentication will be required by your mobile phone.
Whenever your Fuze card is connected to your mobile phone, it will unlock without having to use the passcode.
The passcode can be used to lock the card on security level 2 or 3
when you are using the card on its own or without a mobile phone.
If you want to change the passcode,
Passcode > Create new Password in the drop-down menu to change your passcode.
4.LOCK & REMOTE DATA WIPE
In following situations, the Fuze Card will be locked and unable to be used until you verify it with your account details;
1) If you enter the passcode incorrectly 5 times,
your Fuze Card will be locked and you won’t be able to make payments.

- The card will be unlocked if you connect it to your eCard Manager app via your smartphone.
2) If someone else’s eCard Manager tries to connect to your Fuze Card.
- Fuze Card becomes locked and all the information inside the card gets deleted.


- An email will be sent to the original owner with information of last known locations
and information on the account that tried to access your Fuze Card.
- If this was attempted by you with a new eCard Manager account that you have created, verify
that it was you by pressing the appropriate button.
Once you verify your identity, your Fuze Card will once again be unlocked.
However, please be aware that deleted card information that was stored
on the Fuze Card can’t be recovered and you will have to add all card information again.

5. Fuze Card buttons
On today’s post, we’ll be showing you how to use each button on Fuze Card works.

There are 3 separate buttons located in the front.
1) If you short press the buttons.
First button: move to the left, Second button: move to the right, Third button:
toggles between two card wallets. (payment/membership)
2) If you long press the buttons.
First button: power on/off, Second button: Hold mode, Third mode: Multi display mode.
1.POWER ON/OFF
Long press (3seconds)the the power button to power on/off the card

Once turned on, Fuze Card will remain powered on for about 5 minutes.
To conserve battery power, Fuze Card will automatically power down after 5 minutes.
2.PAYMENT CARD USE
When you turn the power on, the card will immediately display payment card wallet.

Use following power button(move to the left) or hold button(move to the right) buttons to toggle between different cards within the wallet.
Once you select the card and swipe the card, Fuze Card will automatically recognize POS (points of sale)
machines and transmit card information via the mag-strip emulator chip.
3.MEMBERSHIP CARD USE
Press multi button to toggle between Payment/Membership card wallet.

Method of selecting a card in membership card wallet is identical to payment card wallet.
Use following power button(move to the left) or hold button(move to the right) to toggle between different cards within the wallet.
Membership cards can only be used the way you have registered the card with on eCard Manager.
If you have registered a membership card with a magnetic card reader, you would swipe to use the card.

If you have registered a membership card bar code scanner (camera), you would use the barcode at the store.

If the barcode is in a format that is not supported by the display,
only numbers might be displayed even if you have scanned the barcode to register the card.
If you have manually entered the card number you can only use it as a number card.

4.MULTI DISPLAY MODE
Press and hold MULTI button for 3 seconds when the card is on to activate multi display mode.

Top section of the display will show you the current payment card
and the bottom part will show the current membership card.
Use following power button(move to the left) or hold button(move to the right)
to toggle between different cards.
Also, you can press multi button to toggle between top section and the bottom
section to select the desired membership/payment card.

4.CARD HOLD MODE
To prevent accidently pressing a button while making a transaction,
Press and hold button for 3 seconds to enter card hold mode.
The display will be frozen with the card that you have selected.

If you press and hold button for 3 seconds, you will deactivate the hold mode.
The card will stay powered on for 10 minutes (normally 5 minutes) in Card Hold Mode.
5.PREFERENCE
If you want to check serial number of your Fuzecard, or check security level setting, or hardware/firmware version,
Press and hold power button & button for 3 seconds to show preference settings

The serial number of the card will show up first,

If you press the HOLD button again you will be able to see you current security level setting.


If you press the HOLD button one more time, you will be able to check the current hardware/firmware version.
